Why the hell are parts so expensive.

Been doing some home work and lots of thinking and after much deliberation i have concluded that there is no other option than to buy my new outback KYB GR2 struts from the US.

Retail prices range from $1000 dollars upwards here in Australia, even second hand ones were costed around the $700 dollar mark. :twisted:

I can get them, set of 4 front and rear from the US. for just on $540 inc. postage off ebay. Now that's what i'm talking about.:D:D

Even if you took into consideration any import taxes that may be incurred and even a generous mark up for retail. There is no way in the world that these parts should be costing as much as they do here in Australia.

Look forward to hearing from any of you on this issue or have i just stirred up the hornets nest.

you don't go broke making money - so people can't complain they can't buy parts

then look at some dealers that are stuck with same part for many years and not sold it, they have paid for it and may wait a long time due to incorrect market judgement. guess money has to be made on new stuff to cover the old stuff until it is sold on places like ebay, closing down sales and forums.

I believe the parts industry of Australia is regulated by people who have holidayed in Bali or other revolving door countries and have received either the special morning price, the happy hour price or the only for you price, when buying their "genuine" (insert brand name here) off the rack clothing or console games.

I have bought countless items for my computers and cars from the USA, even before they decided to be on par with the Mexican Peso. 99% of the time I paid less (including postage) than I would have if I had gone to the local stores in Bunbury.

Rent, wages, taxes the need for a wife/mistress to have a cupboard full of fancy shoes are all driving the prices of Australian Imported goods, not to mention that our dollar is on some sort of fabled power trip.

Just some food for thought i might be wrong
The right side struts are a bit lower than the left is that for the camber of the road here in oz? If so would that mean that in America the struts are lower on the left?
And if you put those struts on here it will lean more to the left and not sit level
