And I would say your last for quite some time, nearly twice the speed limit can be classed as dangerous driving which on the west coast has a minimum suspension of 9 months and up to $1500 in fines before court costs (from memory) they go even harder if you are a "P" plater as so many are bent on ending up in the morguefishermen32 wrote:aye boyz just recently i was caught doing 149km in my subaru in an 80kmi know stupid stupid stupid decision gonna have to fine out the hard way i was on my red p plates im going to plead guilty of all my charges the cop said ill get my license suspended for minimum 6 months to 2yrs what do u reckon ill get i know ill get a huge fine i dont care bout the fines its just the time this is my first speeding offence

In NSW anything 40km over the speed limit is a licence suspension.
Being on your red provisional and doing 69km over (not forgetting you're on an 80km speed limit for your red Ps as well), it will be $2000 and two years minimum.
Lucky they didn't claim you were street racing as well.

You may want to read this as well.Motor vehicle sanctions
Under the current laws, NSW Police have the power to confiscate the car of a driver who commits a street racing or aggravated burnout offence. Under new measures to be introduced, police will have the additional options of clamping a vehicle, or giving the driver or registered operator of the vehicle a notice requiring that the vehicle be produced at a specified place within 10 days. If the vehicle is not produced a court imposed penalty of $2,200 can apply, and the RTA may suspend the vehicle’s registration for a period of 3 months.
Where a court finds a person guilty of a street racing offence or aggravated burnout offence as prescribed under sections 40 and 41(2) of the Road Transport (Safety and Traffic Management) Act 1999, the following will apply.
Where the driver is also the registered operator of the vehicle
In cases where the driver is the registered operator, the vehicle may be clamped or impounded for a period of 3 months for a first offence. For a second or subsequent offence, the vehicle may be forfeited to the Crown and may be sold or released to the RTA for crash testing (see below for more about crash testing).

I would say I have sympathy for you - but i'd be lying. Going that fast in an 80 zone is just plain stupid, for yourself, your passenger or anyone you might have cleaned up should anything have gone wrong at that speed. Tyre blow out at 150kmph in an 80 zone, with only 1 year on your Ps? Sure, you could handle that
.
Not sure what the latest craze with the hoon laws here in vicco are, but here they like to crush cars of idiots who go that far over the speed limit.
Sounds like you've already started to learn your lesson, i'm sure after you've gone through your re-licensing process you'll be a safe and defensive driver!

You are more concerned about what will happen to you rather than the lives of your mate and other road users.
I hope the system punishes you, but also re-teaches you as you clearly didn't get it the first time around.

On public roads, you have to abide by the public laws. Leave racing for the racetrack.
If you break the law, be prepared to face the consequences, i also feel the same towards drunk drivers

yeh i gotta say if someone was being a careless d!ck in a car (drunk or just stupid) and i was there i would havta smack em silly (especially if they hit my wife or kid or any family or friends)... and it suck cause most of the time its the offender who survives when they crash, passengers and others are normally the ones who die or become crippled...
I LIKE THEM PRETTY YET TOUGH...LOL
