l series spring lift

Post by thelman » Sat Jun 18, 2011 5:30 pm

ok, so ive decided NOT to do a body lift on rupert, as i only need another inch all-round. My question is, what negative effects will i come across? The plan is to fit heavy duty l series springs in the front and honda springs in the back. I just dont want the camber issues ive seen on others.

Negative effects of a "springs only" lift will pretty much just be decreased lifetime of CV joints due to increased running angle. Although with only 1" this probably won't be much of an issue.

What camber issues have you seen? Lift kits (made properly) compensate for this. I've never had an issue with camber relating to body lift, nor have any people
I can think of.

ah I understand now. I would imagine you might get a bit of positive camber in the front, but probably not that much if it's only a 1" difference. Remember that if your existing suspension is original and totally worn out it would have probably dropped a bit so when you replace it, you might not actually be the full 1" higher than factory anyway.

Nice work, how well do they sit on the strut seat? I got a raised set of lovell's that were listed for a leone sedan and ford capri, but the diameter seems slightly to large and they don't sit quite right

I put some 30-40mm heavy duty raised springs from industrial springs in Adelaide, made the car handle 100x better on rough tracks, haven't had it wheel aligned yet but you can get ajustiable camber/caster strut tops from k-mac there $450 a pair though

Hey strevdog, were they very expensive? and how much higher are they compared to stock springs?
I already have a lift kit but i don't want too much angle on the cv's.

I paid $140 cause my mate works at industrial springs, subawreak sell the same springs for $198 a pair but I'm sure if you gave industrials a call they would do them cheaper then that, they are only 30mm-40mm higher then standard, i gainned about 70mm cause my old springs were pretty sagged, the cv angels don't look to bad my cvs are already rooted and I'm putting in new ones soon so hopefully all goes well and I'll have no issues with them for a few more years :)
