Lawn mowers in Perth
Lawn mowers in Perth
Hey guys,
has anyone had any good experiences at any of the mower places around perth?
any recommendations? I have a decent amount of lawn to mow and im chasing something 4 stroke of the rotary push style. Im currently doing the gumtree scan.
anyone recommend me a mower? My dad has always had a MTD branded one with a briggs and stratton motor which ive used heaps on a very large patch of grass, it has never let us down.
even better does anyone have something theyd like to sell me?
thanks
alex

for the moment im going to borrow my nannas (as she can hardly use it anymore) as a trade off im going to mow her lawn haha.
looking at afew of the victas powered by honda 4 strokes atm which are meant to be the ducks nuts.
also masports seem to be the go. I didnt realise they were so expensive, i was hoping for afew hundred but something slightly more decent seems to go for about $450-500 NEW.

Shame, taking advantage of a little old lady like that..
I ditched my 69 Corvette 160cc 2 stroke in favour of a Masport from Bunnings at about $486 plus you need to pay extra fror sumps oil. Then there became a supply ssue of the Briggs for Masport according to sales guy. Victa is now owned by B &S and the Victas were still avail with B & S 5 ft lbs torque 4 bladers.
Buy one if you can't afford a Honda powered. I look at the way handles are mounted to base plate, didn't like Victas, don't like mowers with weird new age blades, hit something hard and bends crank is possibility. Go one with old disc style, 4 blades. Base plate really needs high arch at rear to throw grass right back
Masport Morrison 485 they were called, for 486 dollars.
I had issues with BS starter rope, within no time little black bits were spittin' out as I started, eventually the starter rope broke at six months old. Repair shop never seen it happen, yet had two spare starter coils on bench top and bunnings service had same with broke rope sitting at returns counter, so had a sticky to read report by customer - still looked like new. New starter coil plastic thing $55 here or 12.25 in US
Go buyy a morrison by Masport and see if your BS stuffs up too

some real good help there mate thanks!
my misses would cut my balls off i went and bought a honda. Still, what would she know about how much lawn mowers are worth....i just bought her $1ks worth of bosch front loader so i think i deserve a nice lawn mower!
my local trusted mower joint recommended me this one for the price range im looking at. He quoted me $439 which is semi-cheap i think.

Mine is essentially the same but with 500 series 158cc BS. Always good to support local guy rather than the giant.Think the catcher has a lifetime warranty on it. Big Wuh is hard to catch their lawn mower specials they have, get a few in on a seasonal once off , advertise and they have sold out - sorry, that was a special.
The Masport has good hgh arch, 4 blades, plenty of power, chops grass nice nd fin, throws it to the back of the catcher and you get a proper load inside.
Having said that also check the integrity of the one they sell you. Also found a bolt securing mufler not in fully, cross threaded then lock tabbed into place, think my BS must have been built after a bad day

I've always liked the Reel mowers. They give a nice cut, especially for buffalo and are easy to use as they drive themselves, no pushing. More expensive to buy though, but you can get really old ones that still work great. Mine is from circa 1962 apparently

yeh, my old man has a spare reel mower but its wasted on our lawn. Our lawn is sort of comprised of a weed/buffalo mixture, which im currently in the process of trying to rejuvenate.

Ended up going with a pope powered by a briggs and stratton 148cc. Does the job nicely and only $240. Its identical to my grandmas which I have been giving death for the last 7 years and it hasn't missed a beat.
Very happy with it
Thanks for the help guys

from....big w (shameful i know) it was $246 or something. Had to buy oil seperately (about $10 for accredited valvolene to keep warranty)
ran her over the back lawn the other day, happy days! (the catcher could be bigger but thats a minor issue)
