Steering rack bushes (L series)

Post by apg39 » Sat Aug 13, 2011 12:53 am

From what I gather reading other steering rack related threads, later model racks can be put in an L series. So in theory can I install the late model upgraded bushes for an EJ steering rack? Has anyone done it?

Not changing the rack, just want to check it's possible to retrofit the bushes.
Cheers,
Andrew

No its won't work. Only one bush i think may be the same. Its the square bush. The other one is different.

The L series rack has wider mounting spots than a EJ rack. The only way you can place a EJ rack in a L series is if the car ha a minimum of two inch lift kit on the cross member.

Also the EJ rack bush is moved. Since the body of the rack is circular and doesn't have a specific spot for the round bush, you can move it to suit the L series mounting spot.

i.e, a L series rack can't fit a EJ cross member as its got wider mounting spots and they can't be moved along the rack to suit the EJ mounting spots.

Hope it helps.
