I blame TOONGA for this post.....

Post by steptoe » Fri Sep 02, 2011 11:04 pm

Does the ECU in our turbo subies know when we are in esrever gear?

Has anyone been silly enough to hit boost in reverse if at all possible - and lived to tell??

WARNING: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME OR ON OUR ROADWAYS

My EA82T certainly did not know if reverse was engaged.

You reckon torque steer is tricky to manage forwards - try it backwards. Like a forklift on acid.

There is no signal wire going to the ECU that comes from the reverse circuit, so I'd say no.

Also.. Did the Vortex ever have enough "boost" to ever create a panic

I'm betting that would be awesome... I'm sure my old 3cyl charade would have put out more power ;)

Reverse

Post by gosurfun » Sun Sep 04, 2011 10:37 pm

Try driving a two stroke bike up a hill, stalling it then roll starting it backwards going back down. It will make boost in reverse in a car feel tame. Guaranteed to entertain.

The 3cyl model was available in all years.. from the early G10 model (white one) until the 97 model model (G200). I had the G100 GTti model and was a fun little screamer until I brought my first RS Turbo wagon.
