SO little update, Nothing has been happening mechanically so i tidied up the cargo area. I got a new second hand MP3 CD stater to replace the old normal one, Tucked all the Amp and accessories electrical wires neatly, Also had some paint left so why not, lol

Bottom pic has two racing yellow strips on the the red bar, will try and get a better pic this avo when the sun changes:)

Still waiting on the new second hand deck to arrive from ebay:p

hi im cuttently putting an ej 20 into my L with the awd 4.11 duel range forester diff and box just wondering if some one knows how to get the hydrolic ej clutch to work in the L do i need to use a ej pedel box

First, Start your own thread., so people can reply there.

Second, i don't think its too hard, you just have to drill a whole in the firewall for the hydrolic clutch. Once you get the parts you will be able to see and make it work.
Pm AndrewT and ask him, he has done it twice in a L coupe and a wagon.

No difference really, Only first pic had full sun over it and the bar did come up as red but more yellow. Second pic was to show the true color...

Ok, so the reason for all this nonsense and time wasted on painting etc is that i found a coolant leak on the engine a few weeks ago.

First i though it was coming from the water pump, running along the bottom of the engine and dripping at the back of the head. But it turns out that the water pump isn't leaking.

It seems the leak is coming from the head. Very very weird but yeah coolant is dripping from the back of the head:(
So now i need to take the engine out and get the heads gaskets replaced:(
With my lack of knowledge, all this trouble now falls back onto Paul, poor Paul...

So we are now trying to figure out what are the proper replacement parts we need for my Russian engine. And yes, Since it is now a must i'll get the water pump, pulleys and T-belt replaced. Might as well.

Only down side, its gonna be a while till i finally drive her and i'll be even more broke

Bugger Guy that sucks.
I had the same leak in my auto vortex when i got her in 99, i put some Cargo metalic sealup in her and i still havent had to do the gasket. Im going to replace the gasket finally.
I hope it only the gasket mate and its reasonably painless.

I have to ask are the head gaskets a big and/or expensive job to do? I have coolant stains on the bottom of my engine block too but not that bad. Had a pressure test done on the radiator and it was fine a few months ago.

Tarren, probably best to start your own thread about it in the workshop part of the forum - we don't want to piss guyph off like Paul did with his bit of fun above...

But in short it is generally considered a big job and it can be expensive depending on how far you go with things but you would want to do the water pump and a timing kit while you're in there. If you go all new seals for everything else that adds to the cost. Do it yourself/with some mates and it might cost you a few beers and a bbq

Im hoping Guy that you have checked the metal heater pipes on the engine for leaks, before you go pulling the engine out. that leak seems to run from the top of the left head down the back of the block.

Yeah well it checked it a few times and Paul came and checked it too and gave the final verdict
