Cruise Control into a B4

Post by SUBYDAZZ » Mon Oct 03, 2011 7:52 pm

Not sure if this is the best forum area for this but anyway...

Just on the off-chance I decide to get a B4 Liberty as my new work car/shopping trolley I wanted to know if it's possible to relatively easily fit cruise control to it from a similar model and what'd be involved for a manual or auto model.

I dunno if the layout of the engine or the ECU/TCU precludes it or it was just a sporty-type of omission.

Aus delivered B4s didn't have cruise control and I don't honestly think I could live without it (50km of highway to work and I only have 13 points left on my license).

My B4 has a high quality aftermarket kit in it and it worked well until they disabled the keypad deal.. haven't bothered about getting it fixed :( sure it's just a power fed not connected.

Aftermarket would be the way to go, I've had a couple of WRX's with them so it's easily doable, even the factory one in my Liberty before I converted it ran off a mall vacuum pump so it didn't rely on manifold pressure.

Find an appropriate after market kit might be easier if you're not concerned about a factory setup...

How many points to you guys get?? We've only got a maximum of 12 down here - and more speed cameras than the rest of Australia put together! Go figure!

Cheers

Yeah we only get 12 also, if you lose them you have the option to lose your license for 3 months or they give you 1 point which I think lasts a year & you then get 12 back, if you lose that 1 point I think your time is doubled, not sure on the exact details.
