Strange laws up there?

There aren't many choices in Australia for tropical cities.
I'd consider every tropical town in WA more like "outposts." (Carnarvon, Karratha, Broome etc.)

I also like the weather stats for the NT Top End, Darwin especially
but I figured I'd like Queensland better for better opportunities for SAFE watersport activities. :p
In Darwin, if I wanted to surf it's much closer to Indo surf beaches than the nearest Aussie surf beach.
2500+km's by car?

bad grammar. sorry
I meant it to read "...safe for..." not "...for safe..."
I like doing extreme water sports, so safe for doing extreme watersports.

I also meant that the Top End is infested with saltwater crocs, box jellyfish and other uglies.
North QLD also has them, but not as many crocs and a shorter box jellyfish season.
And Townsville is a short flight to SE QLD where they have none of them.
In Darwin, it's probably easier and quicker just to leave Oz to do that.

You want extreme watersports?

try swimming with a 15' croc swimming behind you, box & irucangi jellyfish all around you, & a couple of tiger sharks thrown in for bit of variety...THATS EXTREME! :p

lmao.

I've seen surf spot guides for Oz's tropical north.
In Townsville they say there's waves sometimes on Magnetic Island and mention needing stinger suits sometimes.
In the Top End, they say there's storm swell;
recommend wearing a stinger suit AND have a spotter with a rifle for your protection while surfing.

I like breathhold diving/snorkelling, scuba, surfing and would like to get into kite surfing. Windsurfing could also be fun.
Dunno if you'd call any of those extreme, but most of those have a small chance of death even without sea creatures.

everything has a small chance of death you cant go to sleep with out risking death but QLD is pretty good for those things... i miss my days up there... there is never a bad day for boating or fishing in QLD unlike S.A the one day i find perfect for fishing and the car suffers extreme brake fade $%&^

technically speaking a rifle will be useless unless it comes out of the water

Maybe it was a spear-gun?

though I doubt that would deter a 1-2 tonne salty; just piss it off. :p
