todays trip events

Post by vidler » Sun May 21, 2006 10:42 pm

i spose ill write up a post on todays events and we can all add to it coz i doubt i know of everything that happened

we started the day by meeting at our arranged point, suprisingly all on time except johno, then headed off at our arranged time :!: :!: :?:

went through guilderton (romeo rd i think) and found a few nice dunes/hills to challenge us early on. had a bit of a play around this area before we weaved our way back to the the tarmac to push onto lancelin. There was a flat tyre and a bent strut during this stint...

from there we hit the road and stopped in lancelin 4 lunch, and no, johno didn't fall asleep on his chair and matt didnt fall asleep in his car either... suprise :D

after lunch, we hit the sand dunes and found a few challenges and an insanly huge dune that john and jaffa went down.... had buckleys of getting back up it. Also managed to pick up a a couple of tag alongs - a suzuki vitara and diahatsu terrios   they actually were more capable than we all thought, although the suzuki did some STUPID stuff and risked his car and life...

from there we just trecked around, going up stuff, then down and around etc etc for a couple of hours.

then on the lat hill of the day (not intended to be) we all made it up and over fairly easily. When we went to move on, my car seemed to have some dramas. Had killed my 2nd gear COMPLETELY :( so i was escorted out to the main entrance using 1st and 3rd... from there we decided to call it a day and headed on home..

so the damage list for the day are as follows

90subiewgn - flat tyre, bent strut

Mattims - badly slipping clutch

Subarino - slipping clutch

Vidler - gearbox

other than that it was all good and we all had a great time

too bad I missed it :( :(

All I had to do was replace a d/shaft boot on saturday -- of course I left it late, only to find a flat battery on the MY -- charged her up, went for a drive in the evening, alternator not keeping charge in the battery..

I think I've solved it (some dodgy wiring off the laternator -- seems OK now); still have to do the d/shaft boot.

Are we still aiming for a regular meet? Got to get the wagon out before the QLD rego runs out.

Well I'm keen in a while, damn clutch is slipping heaps and I'm not going to buy another EA one, putting the EJ driveline in my wagon so I'll be buying an EJ clutch..

My brother's car should be good to go soon, the rack boots have been missing for ages and I've been telling him to replace them for months and he hasn't, so I'm getting them done this week. It should go OK offroad, although it has an open diff at the back. It does have Nankangs and lift though, and the final drive is 3.9.

Your Bro's car will go fine Tim :D
I've never had anything better than an open diff in my Suby. Although I havn't tried turning 27" tyres with a carb EA82....
