Finally got the winch going.

As above thanks to Callum the sparky, he worked out the wiring in about 30sec and it works great though I'm yet to try it with a load, just wound it all the way in and out but here's some pics of the mount thanks mostly to seagulls over engineering, welding and cutting skills and a bit of help from me the idea's man on some of the design, I'll try it out (one day) and if it seems like it'll be useful I'll have a tow bar mounted to the front on the bash plate.

I can't see it being much use as a 4,000lb winch but doubled back to the car on a snatch block it'll double that so 8,000lb or roughly 3.6T of pulling power may be useable, good thing is I got a second complete unit for free from FleaBay if I burn it out lol. It has a hard wired remote which will be stored somewhere for emergency's or a wireless one which will be used for convenience.

As you'll see all I need to do to fit it is drop the tow ball pin through it and connect to power (not worked out yet)

It will turn at over 45deg, no idea if that will be useful or not ????

Looks good Tom.. I'd also buy a good sand anchor.. just incase you dont have any trees around.

Nah, going to make a table that goes over the bottom lip of the tailgate & has a leg that pokes into the tow bar hole then if I need an anchor I'll bury that, ok if you have 30m of cable but I have 10 lol....well 5m when I double up but I'll attach that to a tow rope which can be shortened as the winch gets closer. I have the equivalent of 4 X 1.5m ramps in the back so maybe just need enough to pull me onto them will be enough.
