Hi guys,
Well i have bought this car with a blown engine. Its unlic and i only have a written receipt on a page of paper. The car isn't too bad and i'm thinking of fixing it. Only thing is it seems a bit suspicious!!!!
Suspicious because the driver window is broken and the barrel has been smashed. before i start putting money in it to fix it i wanted to find out if its legit. Anyway i heard of something call revs check that tells you if the car is stolen etc but when i google it i only get web site that ask to pay. I was told it is free. Does anyone know if its free?
I'm thinking of calling the department of transport on Monday and try to find out.
Ideas??

It costs $5 if you want a copy of the certificate - otherwise if you only want verbal confirmation it is free.

verbal info over the phone is free in nsw and vic as far as I have experienced, the guarantee continues if you wanna pay $14. I did that with my Vort and condition is that you pay for car within 24 hrs of report being paid for. Vic records also can advise whether it has been written off or stolen in its life as well.
WA revs may be different. Over in the east i think Sat am it is open too.
Anything else suss, like compliance plate missing, mismatched number plates?
