Xmas pressie prediction

Post by steptoe » Thu Dec 22, 2011 10:11 am

I could almost bet a nut that someone is gonna get a torch as a pressie this Christmas ! Not sure what it is with torches, they are getting smaller, brighter, more colourful- so we humans have to have just another one handy.

Been looking through stuff for more stuff and find I have shelved a few torches - all good in their own right, but I tend to misplace them or update and cast older ones aside.

Got the shakermaker style needs no batteries, got the wind up one also no batteries to run flat or leak can charge a mobile phone from too, or used to be able to.Also got nice small compact that uses rechargeable button cells that sit in the lighter plug (if they behave) found another micro torch that blows its bulb more than should, bulb cost (retail) half what the torch is worth !

Also got the latest $4 LED jobbies from anyone who cares to sell.

My latest acquisition is an alleged 5W (with CREE logo on package) headlight claiming

PPros are thrilled
approx 150 lumens
bailong is a miracle of light
it actually shines a diamond or square shape direct from the LED on a wall ten metres away for an intense light and may just shine up to 200m
Not sure if it is just me, or my genes or is it a human failing.....

aw, new torch ! Must have or must give !!

Hehehe...

I could see a lot of spoilt little brats getting a lump of coal this year... But I doubt their parents could teach them a lesson like that.

But where to get coal from??

Cheers

I have a couple of torches from china, they are bloody bright. One has a multi led die that claims 700 lumens, and I believe it. It takes a 3.7v lithium battery that lasts about an hour on full power.

In the last 3 years I've worked the last 3 and missed the birth of my first child all since joining my current employer. I asked for Christmas day off with annual leave and it was rejected becuase there was already one other person on leave although it still left us over staffed - how the f**k does that work ??

They are cheap, but the construction quality isnt very good. I had to disassemble mine and apply heatsink grease and beef up some of the internal wires but it works great now

Batteries are rechargeable and arent that dear.

I bought one of these Xstreem Focus Headlights from Woolworths a couple of weeks ago and it it's a little ripper, the bright mode really is bright.

For around the house at night and working in dark places on the Forester it is brilliant (pun - unintended ) I can't remember exactly how much it cost but it was nowhere near the cost of my old Energiser 2 x LED Headlight which was around $36.00 at the time and is now $39.00.

Mine is like this one.
