Looks great. And it looks like your little helper is learning from an early age
But i have a small query,.. will the alloy headers be enough to handle the heat?
I know that the heads are made of the same material, but they are watercooled. Where are you gonna inject the water into the exhaust manifold?

I am heat shielding them with a race wrap and injecting water 450mm away from the end of the headers..

get a heat exchanger/coolant circuit out of a old truck and put a header tank on to it just a rad in a car and u will be abell to run coolant in it .and make up some s/steel headers for it and put the water out of heat exchanger threw it as with the alloy headers u have in there now thay will melt as u no alloy melts at about 570deg c and wil not last long at hi RPM

as the block is not a alloy it will corrode out very fast just put a header tank on it like i said and it will last for ever .BRUMBERTY wrote:I am trying to keep this boat as simple as possible.
Less to go wrong on the water or simple repairs if it does.
I am OVER niggling small issues with boats when everything needs to work all the time.
As I figure it, and please pipe up anyone who has an opinon, (Brett, SWK,)
The only steel in the cooling system is in the water pump, all the rest of the passages are alloy casting.
I have found two spots to put zinc annodes into the system and a spot to have a flush valve.
How much could it corrode really?
I may put a WD40 injection nozzle for after flushing.

Run new stringers fore and aft every 300mm for rigidity.
for this just run 3mmx50mm flat
and with the ribs just fit in the corners at 45deg and u will make it stiff .
as if u put to much weld on to it u will find it will just crack up all over the place .
mount your engine with some 6mmx50mmx50mm angle but weld just to the ribs and just cross brace it with 6mm flat and u will have a very strong mount that will not flex and crack .
do not weld to the floor plate as it is a wast of time and money on alloy.

Still trying to weld this horrid metal.
Built a transom box and the ribs required, I even got a few welded in.
I blew a lot of holes too.
Got a metal fabricator just moved in across the road, he is finishing the welding for me.
Got some AWESOME poly pipe for the pontoons.
Three lengths of 160mm diametre and four of 110mm.
5 to 6m lengths.
The wall is 12mm thick and looks indestructable.
UV stable, black, weldable, FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Absolutely 'ken stoked.
I am encasing the hull around the gunwails with a full 160mm tube and filling it with boyancy foam.
I will post some pics when I find the camera.
WOO HOO.
The near zero budget build is amazing how is falls together when you wait long enough.
But I am not a patient person......Peace everyone.

this is how the pontoons will sit going all the way around the boat, each piece mitre cut at 45's around the stern and joining at the bow.
The pipe is just big enough to stuf a kitten into. (we got her out)
proportions.
This is the new transom plate. 8mm alloy.

Still; ticking along, got the ribbing all reinforced, transom as well.
Have a magnificent stainless steel exhaust ready to tig together...wineries have all sorts of cool stainless tubing and bends!!
My old Man has been a bit sneaky and gave my two boys a 13foot Dinghy with a 20 hp on the back and told me to take them fishing!!
Superb grandfatherly action but it slowed progress somewhat.
Belting the fish at the moment though.
Flathead, Bream and squid.
This winter should see it all put together.

PS Seriously though, I can't wait to see how this has progressed and even more once it's on the water at speed
The hull with initial pipe attachment
316 stainless exhaust
intale housing and main engine bearers all in one
serious rib reinforcement
Still going at it.......
