From memory "Uncle" Bob was usually portrayed by the media as being fairly "pie eyed" most of the time. People liked him as he was human and not all political all the time.

The chineese are buying our farms, the government is taking the water leases from the Riverina, WTF! and that stupid bitch thinks we are doin OK cause we have mining.
Mining BS we are at the bottom of the food chain so to speak. Pretty soon we will be owned by the asians, if not already, they own the power companies. Think about it 2-3 years ago the cost of power nearly doubled then all of a sudden solar pannels appeared at an affordable rate with govenment subsidys available. BUT where are the pannels made. China !! They have us screwed. Up the cost of power and people will buy the pannels. They win ! what can we do ?

TOTALLY AGREE!

As for the question... find a farmer that's community minded with a direction for this (currently) great country that has a passion to follow this through without being side tracked/gagged at the top or paid out like garret.

Some of this country's best PM's came from "the little people" on the land who have a true understanding of what THIS country needs, not what is in the best interest of some global agreement that we seem to be the only ones upholding...

Cheers

Or, according to the second edition of "The Guiness Book of Records" 1956

Same time 08 seconds to 20 seconds of the clip! to , less brown shtuff 57 years later !!

In keeping with the copyright statement within the book the above quoted is a brief passage that is allowed by a reviewer.

I hereby appoint myself as a reviewer - just for the moment

"This years copy (1956) of The Guiness Book of Records was an excellent read from front to back , hardcover edition. If you rush down to your second hand book shop you may just be lucky to score yourself a copy" said Steptoe Jonno

Continuing with the review:

the oldest Internal Combustion car still in running order was the Danish "Hammel" , a twin cylinder horizontal (SEE?) water cooled 4 stroke of 2720 cc with a 3.5:1 compression ratio, with tube burner ignition produced on a test bed 3.5 HP at 500 rpm

The fastest "closed car" MB 300SL Sports Coupe 2996cc , comp ratio of 8.5:1 , 240HP @6000rpm , using Bosch direct petrol injection ~ 165mph car

Most powerful car was the Ferrari 375 Millemiglia with a 60 degree V12 4522cc ~ 340HP @7000rpm gave ~ 180mph in top (4th)

then there is the fastest most powerful UK built car category - taken out by the D Type Jaguar with its I6 3422cc, 9.0:1 comp ratio, 250BHP @6000rpm ooh, they did not print the speed ??!!

Most powerful Saloon Car - Chrysler 300 , 300HP, 5432cc V8 hit 127.58mph at the US Stock Car Speed Trials Championship

Most expensive standard car was a Spanish Pegasos 7,600 to 9,000 pounds UK with a 90 degree V8 3.2 litre with twin OHC, sodium cooled valves ~ 250 HP @ 6500rpm. Five speed box , ZF limited slip diff

Solar panels are $400 each and retail for a grand, you'd hardly need a subsidy if they were bought in bulk by the government and installed at cost along with their other bits, again at cost.

I dunno about PM, but he certainly knows what he's on about.
As for Juliar I'd agree she's not great, but Abbott is worse...alot worse.

Ah I do love politics threads

This could be interesting. He's certainly got a good Australian orientated resume and the passion for Australia's interest for the top job.

ALDI stopped selling Australian pineapple, bringing in Philli pines :( no cheaper per can to us the consumer and when you read that the consumer prefers to save 20c a load of tomato sauce over 158 jobs in Victoria...... well....

Not sure if he has the political clout to make it but if he did he'd be awesome

Remember when he brought out his own brand of matches & called em "dickhead" matches? In reference to "redhead" matches hahaha :-P

Yes, I'd go for Dick Smith but he'd be too smart to set himself up as a politician. I think the smart clever people in Australia steer clear of politics and just go about their business.
