Budget rear L struts ?

Post by discopotato03 » Sat Jan 28, 2012 11:37 pm

Found a wrecker down the coast with a sprinkling of Ls . Ellies rear struts are well and truly history after 26 years and terminally ill . To get me through to November in its last period of registration with me I'm going to use a pair of 2nd hand wagon struts . They are Pedders Comfort Gas and have good lower rubber bushes on them .
Anyone ever used these ?

A .

Got them in Vorts bum. Followers will know you are pttin' these in your RX sedans arse not a wagon. Hope you got the same lower mount bolt to spring seat distance to replicate the current ride height and feel or you'll change everything - maybe for the better.

No epic bloody fail , the bottom end eye bolt to lower spring seat is approximately the same but the shaft length must be greater because the total length is too long .

Back at the wrecker today and found a good clean set of 90 wagon rear struts and they went straight in . Feel much better too .
Also got a good pair of rack boots off a sedan cause mine are torn .

Still amased how clean some of these old girls are and I sometimes wonder why they get wrecked at all . I spose people think they're too old to bother with when the mechanical wear out . Still , good pickings for us vultures .

Cheers A .
