leaking clutch

Went for a cruise with my gf to Portsea. We were going to go to Point Nepean, hoping to find some tracks. We stopped at Portsea Pub for a bite & a coldie (& a fluffy duck lol), where I noticed the clutch only came halfway out after I put it in gear. Had a look under the bonnet where I found fluid dripping onto the gearbox. Took off the air filter box, found fluid dripping off the hose leading from the clutch slave cylinder. Took off the protective sleeve to try find a leek...couldnt see anything. Frustrating thing is I couldnt see where the leak was

I tried bleeding the line but the clutch just went to the floor & stayed there! In frustration I called the RACV. He got me to pull the pedal up by hand, which worked, then we bled the line. The pedal stuck to the floor a few times. Was this the clutch fork over-rotating?

It seemed fine afterwards, but I drove home with minimal clutch use.

I checked it when I got home...nothing!

My question is, do you think its a loose connection or a pinprick hole in the hose? Should I get a new hose? Should it be genuine?

I have to help my sister move house tomorrow morning, so I need my car.

Damn.. this is the exact thing that happened to me in my daughter's 99 Foz just the other day. I can tell you for sure that it's the hose.

The whole clutch to the floor makes it hard to drive.. especially as it causes the hill brake to stay on.. didn't work that out until I was trying to push the car into the workshop.. fail.. lol

Oh and to answer your question... Just get a new one made from your local brake repair place. Phone around for a good price but check genuine and let us know.

Wow sounds like a helpfull RACV bloke. Usually they do a battery test and then tell you to get the car towed. Glad you got it home.

Any hose place like ENZED or ABS should be able to make one up for you.

+2 I had mine stick to the floor and got stuck on the beach... bogged

Then replaced the master cylinder, then had the smae thing happen again in traffic and it turned out to be the slave cylinder

Bugger mate! But it's better than it happening somewhere that the RACV wouldn't come near us...

Sounds like a relatively easy fix, it's usually either the slave or master cylinder that shags out on these things!
