different size carbs on EA81

Post by revmax » Thu Mar 22, 2012 5:30 am

Yesterday I discovered two different sized carbs that were fitted to EA81's and have different size mountings so are not interchangbe on the manifold.
The bigger one was off an older 84 model EA81 and the smaller on a later 89 model EA81. The earler has the same mountings as an EA82.
Anyone else found this

I thought it was the other way around.. small was the earlier model??

I know the later ones on the Brumbys (87 onwards) are almost identical to the L.Series

interesting.

The 2 89 EA81's I got from the auto recyclers both had the smaller carbs.
one of the 89 brumbys I have has the small carb (the other has a weber)and the 90 I drive daily has the small carb, the 84 that I wrecked had the bigger carb

Yeah, smaller mount was on one pollution choked manifold I had, even the flow of internals was pretty restrictive - now likely been a beer can once or twice round since I had it :D The carby is likely rudely wasting space somewhere too
