The weird part is, the clocks sucked in L series' too. So FHI kept making crap clocks for years.

The one in my '09 Forester still work, touch wood.

hahahaha.

If my rate of acceleration doesn't feel unsafe
and I don't hear any complaints from the motor,
I see no reason not to have my foot all the way to the floor.
At least while I'm testing my motor. Sometimes I behave, sometimes I don't... (fuel economy-wise)

It actually didn't feel very fast,
but rather somewhat-quick acceleration while the EA82 sings happily and loudly.
Do you still consider that "thrashing" an EA82? :p

**My driving style is why I wish I had 4.11:1 final drive even with my current tyres**

Yeah mate but you have a computer controling your engine. ;)
My 2008 Civic actually had a knock at speeds under 1200 rpm sometimes under high load, but after that I don't think it would ever knock.

My L Series clock never kept time.
Within a few hours it would be wrong so I gave up on resetting it.

Some day in the not too distant future this might become a collectors item: a Subaru clock that doesn't keep time right... Like those misprint dollar bills or something...

Hold on to it, I say! Don't fix it, keep it as is measuring "Subaru Time"!! LOL!!!

So they never fixed the issue from the L series to the foz - that's a LONG time! Just bust it out, remove the rear covering and solder up any joints that look fried. I just did one last weekend - it took 6 joints to be re-done to get it working again. Works a treat now :D

And today Sheldon (formally Dirka - family talked sis around on that name) was seen pouring steam/smoke out from under the bonnet after being parked. So I got a panicked phone call from my sister to come check it out, luckily for her I was in town at the time.

I've never seen anything like this but coolant steadily pours out under the passenger's side head as if one of the exhaust studs has been replaced but drilled in too far. Dunno, but will find out tomorrow. On the trailer ride home he dropped all his coolant (water) that we filled him up with to drive him onto the trailer...

Cheers

Have to get my act together a post on the main issues with the L series clocks (see my post titled "L series clock")
With these there are really only 1 or 2 resistors that cause an issue due to heat and dry joints. Mine (92 L series) was a classic example, resolder the resistors and it keeps excellent time.

I finished installing the handbrake, filled up the power steering fluid and fitted the front swaybar and took my RX for its first drive. The factory boost controller needs a restrictor pill because it spiked to 15psi and then hit fuel cut. Damn.

So now its just the radiator fans and a tidy up and it will be drivable. YAY!!!

Repositioned the GPS antenna as the reception on the sat nav was pretty poor... It's amazing how a little tweaking goes a long way in improving satellite lock-in. I went from 3-4 satellites detected to 7-8! :)

Discovered from Matt that there are two adjustment screws for each headlight alignment.
The point of maximum intensity was terminating about 12 metres in front of my car at low beam. I hated that.
Now it's hard to tell where they terminate, but the road is lit up better.
I will do some final tweaking tonight so I'm not mean to the other drivers. :p

Matt is also helping me install my AP60 kit. :)

Headlight alignment almost perfect now. :)

My 320 CCA battery I'm replacing with a 550 CCA one from North Queensland Battery.
Their batteries they claim are made for tropical weather.

AP 60 slowly coming together...

Removed, cleaned and lubed my noisey starter motor. Clutch dust was making one hell of a racket, the thing was filthy on a scale only Hugh Hefner could accurately picture.

All good now :)

New sump gasket and spark plugs the other day. Next on the list is valve clearances and uni joints in the propshaft
