L Series Suspension Squeak

Post by Kelossus » Tue May 29, 2012 9:14 pm

Hey Guys

I have an annoying squeak coming from the rear of my car. It sounds like its coming from the rear springs/struts.

Every time i push down on the car it squeaks. Even getting in out of the car causes it to squeak. Is this a major issue?

I have some picture of my springs and struts, i know this isn't going to help but is this the stock suspension? I can see a KYB sticker on the front struts so i know that is aftermarket but are the springs on the front and rear stock?

Also is suspension very hard to change yourself?

I am not very mechanically minded but I'm not useless. Do I have to take the wheels and everything off to change the struts and springs?

Ok.
To change I would say yes you can.
Wheel off yes. And jack the car up high so the spring is fully extended.
Hub off I doubt it. Should just unbolt from the hub ( or whatever it's attached to).
I would Probebly get a suspension/ wheel shop to check/ get it aligned properly.
This info is just from what I have picked up from other members, and common sense. I don't really know what to do.
Others will clarify.

Cheers Cam

shove a garden hose under each corner at a time, turn tap on, wet everything, take for test drive or bounce - any noise go ??

You are learning, stay in here, keep asking questions, check and double check your work.
Can you record the sound to shove in here ??

It's probably either the rear struts' lower bush or the rear bushes squeaking.

My rear right needs a new lower bush on the strut as it's squeaking every time you get in/out of the car or as soon as you hit the slightest bump in the road.

Cheers
