Insurance Co. House/cont - any praise ??
It's time to renew my insurance.
Planning of dumping current one, even though I used to work with a sister of their former 'face' girl
Have found even though it is full replacement, so you pay more if you in a little house surrounded by bigger houses as an average of the area.
The qbe sitte has links to a value guide site, complex and simple taking into allowance for complete demo if need be as ya house might be $8000 to break up, remove and dump fees, not a nice thought, but a reality and seen it.
They revised flood cover, or redefined it. A friend is still fighting same over times from rising water in Brissy last year - an excuse they gave me last year for $100 premium increase was all the claims from the floods. Maybe not all of them eh?
They have revised the age of items for motor burnout down to 7 years old. My stuff is all older than that so why pay for it if can't use it
They have a limit on garage contents to 25% of total content cover, another company does not differentiate. A real good sounding insurance company just told me they limit garage content (cars not included) to just a thousand bucks ! SCRATCH. One beginning with a 10 point scrabble score did not care, policy covered house and garage contents up to covered amount - less excess, if claim necessary.
Any good experiences with Ins Co's ?? and their openness. If you mention AAMI or NRMA I am not interested.
A discount of say 10% for online application helps too !
Excesses are tricky too...
After a few years I opted for increasing excess to save on premium - thought it was a grand, so when I broke an $800 window - didn't claim. Then find it had changed to a $500 excess. I asked some years later how much to bring excess down - an extra $43 annual to get the $500 down to $100.
Then looking at renewal after some years, see a $100 standard excess, underneath says plus flexi premium excess $200 - does not spell it out that it is in fact a $300 excess unless you add it up yerself, coz that is what the bottom line is.
Ambiguous eh ?
When that happened, if it did actually change, I have no idea, I may have always had a $100 basic plus the plus all the time, just never noticed it in the printed bit.

so , motor burnout type stuff xxxx limited to 7 years in PDS, real have ten, so too xxx but xxx extend beyond ten to fifteen years old applying a 20% reduction in payout
xxx have a choice of excesses, and sounds like standard is $250
not sure why i am too worried, never made a claim but then it is when you do you kick self
xxx has Oz origins, is on share market, holders get 10% discount when talking to human for cover. Can get a 10% discount if paid online with online quote. With current was looking at near 20% increase on last years, same % again year before that, combined house and contents premium at ~ 800 bucks so a 10% discount at that rate looks like 80 bucks I don't have to find
Then there is the consideration some companies are going to be giving a discount to new customers only ? Or is it, if you are hapy with one, ask to keep the 10 % discount to renw, or let it lapse a minute, get a quote from same, accept, jada, yada, jada ,....

Gees, really needs a read of their PDS , Cobleep!, as in the supermarket giant, not sure if the term is - underwritten ' by Westfarmers .... has a very quick online calculator - asks for specific street where others just ask for suburb town.
No need to use a cryptic code to enter prior to getting quote - sure that may be a cookie setter or something on other sites to gain your ID as far internet code location.
Is very clear in options such as option of motor burn out - have it or not - clearly says adds $37 to annual amount, another option add $37 to annual, and another option says adds about 25% to the premium so actually up front and inviting instead of being afraid to ask to keep conversation short.
When final quote comes through at less than $600 !! Me needs to study PDS , the other qbleep! came out as near $1100, bleepI ~ $800 . All using same contents value and building value (except bleep!I is just endless value)
Another thing I like as a user of this onlin calc is with premium quoted shows clearly it is an annual one payment a year figure. Right next to it is a monthly figure that is not one twelveth - it is more and explains due to monthly payments is more and quotes the all up total of monthly figures. Mine came out with the extra as nearly one more months payment extra - but it is all there, no hidden figures. I am impressd with the layout and site presentation so far. Can go back and select/deselect options, alter insured sums and go finish again for a new quote without a whole new restart.
Also states the online calc price is 10% less than the price a consultant will quote on the phone. So clearly written, all it really needs is the summary of all data entered on the same page as the supplied quote, so you can believe your eyes !!
Off to compare PDS

Now....don't take my word for anything here, gonna bleep out ins co names above. Read the PDS and ring and ask questions you may have.
Nearly lost focus, rang to ask about garage content, this latest company has a $1,000 limit on unlocked shed or garage. If the garage has normal locks on doors etc and is not normally opened without key , or controller ... no limitations other than content insured total found on the PDS by my consultant - located in SA - that is South Africa
So, with this latest one, and its motor burn out - an option
$37 is for ten years or younger stuff, so no need to be covered for that myself just yet - touch wood
So, not only 10% off for doing it all yerself online , get to pick some options - like peeking at your consultants screen - ya get a declared 5% discount on combined home and content policy.
Also, unlike another insurance provider in the event of total demolition these costs are covered over and above the insured amount, these and council fees. One insurer places onus on you to make calculatons or trouble a builder or architect for rebuild cost , demo cost.
Never looked into insurance PDS before so closely, asked so many questions - always had a lurking question in the back of my mind - surrounded by Subaru sh!t as well
and a note for those of you that can see me with a head set on, i am not a viral markter nor work in the insurance industry (just always the second placed top poster here !) getting US made peanut butter on my keys, got it at ..... nah . got the headset at a 90% off sal at a closing DSE - allows eat drink type and talk at same time
..... sd almost, went off to find tissue to clean keys, wiped fingers, tossed tissue, came back to remember why I needed tissue, wiped keys, before save edit got extra spaces, got disconnected from online connection.
Just, never really made time to look at policy renewal or PDS of just one insurer let alone a few to compare and gues that may be partly what the companies rely on - they have you as a customer and don't need to do much work to keep you. My policy actually lapsed. Previously when it has by just 12 hours, i get a call to remind me, have to go through whole policy creation again - as a punishment for not renewing on time I suppose. If I also tell that my policy was not renewed with them for a month bfore they reminded me the premium was not paid, I had no cover (with them) until it was, just another crack in my confidence in the way the company was changing
