Most subie engine Nm and kW in here now
I have renewed faith in EA82T after comparing TORQUE figures found in tune up spec book (could be errors)
EJ 22 16 valve 89 - 95 models
100 KW @ 6500
189Nm @ 4800
EJ 16 93 - 95 models
66KW @ 5600
128Nm @ 4000
EA81 79 - 84
4WD 9.2:1 comp ratio 59 kW @ 5200
135Nm @ 2400
FWD 9.0:1 comp ratio 60kW @ 5200
135Nm @ 2400
EJ 18 S
76KW @ 5600
147Nm @ 4400
EA82 carby
77KW @ 6000
142Nm TORQUE @ 4800
EA82 T
83KW @ 4800
181Nm TORQUE @ 2800
EJ20 DOHC 16 valves
85kW @5600
170Nm @4400
EJ20 E SOHC
92kW @ 5600
184Nm @ 3600
EJ20G DOHC Turbo
160kW @ 5600
290Nm @ 4000
EJ25D SOHC
115kW @ 5600
223Nm @ 3600
EJ25 DOHC 16 valve
115kW @ 5600 !
221Nm @ 4000 !
COMPARE LITRE TO LITRE between EA & EJ, not a noticeable torque increase between normal aspiration. KW yeah, but who drives at 6000 rpm (other than Tim)
until I experience reliability problems with 20 year old design I can't or won't comment
can see why EJ22 is nice choice as comparable to EA82T. In NSW EJ20 should comply with owner modified rego rules and no certificate from engineer needed ?
uh oh, what is this gonna start ?

The EA engine isnt a 20 year old design it dates back to the late sixties, i like the figures but an easy gain in the EA82T is to add more boost (please renew headgaskets if you dont know how long they have been there, i get fed up with the bashers saying they are a shit motor because of failure of 20year old head gaskets and a healthy dose of boost) at 10psi you will get around 100kw and if you go to 12-14psi you will gain more and it will still be reliable, not to mention the added torque.

i thought the ea82 carby was only about 66kw /85hp, ea82mpfi is about 90hp (vortex mpfi 90hp)
This could be a very interesting thread

There is no way that a carby EA82 has more power than an EJ18.
I thought the carby models were rated at 60kw, and the MPFI ones at 75kw?
The EA82 I have in my wagon now doesn't have that much more than the old EA81 did, and that EA81 had no compression! Plus my EA82 has a Weber.
Carby EA82 heads flow about the same amount as a head off a postie bike. There's no way a carby EA82 has anything on an EJ18.

My L with Ej20 drives like a stock turbo ea. EA's are shit motors because of the cooling capacity, Dave is right though, anyone who calls them for shit because they failed headgaskets after upping the boost is a dick.
EA82's on 11psi, intercooled and 2.5" exhasut are a brilliant little package.
Only prob here is I need a cert to fit an ea82t, none to fit an EJ20 I know which is easier in the long run...
