You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.

Well spotted.. but I was not the driver, the name positioning gives this away.

Now for the extra bonus points, can you pick the year of the esky?

It's not a sneaky RS1800 rally special import is it? I'll guess not due to the front nose shape...

I'll guess 1979 RS2000. Seems to have the logo at the rear side panel, just unclear in photo. I think that's the fuel filler there, too... did it ever get repositioned, eg from behind the number plate and does this delineate the year model??? I didn't pay quite that enough attention as a kid to remember now.

I wished. This little rocket is a Australian delivered RS2000 in 1979 but has had a major heart transplant. She now has a oversized (by this I mean one that would suit a mack truck) turbo bolted to a Sierra Cosworth twincam engine. On the dyno she managed to hit the 400bhp at the wheels but was dialed back to keep it drivable. This is bolted to a BW T5 box that has been built for racing. Rear diif is a fully modified 8-3/4 with disc brakes, which are Willwood all round. A lovely set of Compomotive lightweight racing rims wrapped in Toyo R888 goodness :)

Yep.. just as you picked.. RS2000 and I was hoping you would spot the number on the door :)

Your memory (or attention) isn't as bad as you think, the fuel filler is still behind the number plate. The panel on the side is bolted shut (from factory) I think the normal 1.6 uses this, as they have the small tank behind the rear seat.
