as the boys just said reboring is only needed if the cylinders are worn. if it did need reboring youd have to fit new pistons as well. but we wont no how bad it is until its apart. how much smoke does it blow if its only minor rings should be fine. ill check it out before you pull it out anyway. as for time i can pretty much do it when eva ya ready. and yes my name is clint its wagga clint cause im originally from wagga wagga.

Made some quick phone calls today, not sure how good these prices are but they do seem OK.
A full ACL rebuild kit will cost $445 inc GST and I can have one within a day. I also enquired about a water pump too just in case, $51 inc GST.

I should add that the kit includes pistons, rings, gaskets, seals and bearings, not sure if it has head bolts too. The normal kit has 10 thou bearings and 20 thou pistons/rings, but if need be this can be changed.

I do have some tools... but not mechanicy tools if u know what i mean. Maybe bringing a few things might be best.

Was thinking... by the time u get here Friday it's gonna be kinda dark and hard to see.... what are your plans on the weekend... i think im pretty much in all weekend fitting an alarm to a mates car. Maybe in the light might be eaiser.

Tim... that sounds good to me but we will see what Clint thinks. I wont need a water pump... i have a new one off the old motor that was not very old at all.

Would i be better off getting the parts after the engine is pulled apart or is this something i can get in advance?

yeah weekend is fine for me. youd be better of getting parts when engine is apart we will need to see what size bearings etc are in it now. but if tim can get the parts within one day its good it wont hold it up at all.

Are they them gaskets u torque up once? Hell don't want to pull the motor out again just to tighten bolts.

Tim
The ACL kit you talk about ,whats the retail price on that?
Is there a similar kit for the ej20T?
Is there a top o'haul kit for the ej20T? gaskets ,no pistons?
These are damn good prices
Got a few prices for genuine parts
ej22 rings $300+
w/pump $120
head gaskets $70ea

Dave, I beleive they are Monotorque head gaskets, yes.

Christian: as far as I know that's a one off price for me, not being in the parts industry any more I have pulled some strings for Dave and managed to get a very good discount. I have no idea whether one can be sourced for an EJ20T, and yes retail is a lot higher.

I may be wrong but a ej20 single cam is no bigger than a ej22 .

In fact a ej22 would have a longer stroke than the ej20

or am I wrong that the ej20 will not fit up in your ride ?
