That was my biggest problem, all my 12mm spanners are too wide concealing the square bit. I am not going to grind away at a tool with Sidchrome stamped on the side. Ill buy a cheapie & chew away at that.
Good idea making a 5mm sounds easy.
Silverbullet, I think this is the correct tool, looks good but its all the way over in Yankeeland, cant seem to find one locally.

Makes you wanna move there doesn't it ! And $27 !! We are so deprived here in Oz with specialised tools at decent prices, or if someone is Oz has one, you won't find it on the 'net.
Start with 4mm and work your way up to 5mm. If you can drill a hole first, then cut off ??

That is one fantastic tool, exactly what you need for adjusting them easily. Since my new engine still has adjusters I'll definitely be getting one of those nuts to the postage cost ;)
Will it ever end!?
-EA81 TWIN CARB!!!!
-L series 5 speed
-Custom paint job
-2" lift

Unfortunately that seems to be the case, most of the specialised tools mentioned in service manuals don't seem to exist here.

Just grabbed a cheap set of 8 OE spanners for $9, going to attack them with drill press, bench grinder, angle grinder & anything else I can find.

That's what I think also, I couldn't even build anything close to that. There is no mention of international shipping, it doesn't even rate a mention in their checkout process.
I have sent off an email asking will they ship OS. Interesting to see what the reply will be, if I receive one at all.

Back on topic, checked passenger side rocker cover & it seems only 1 pushrod is blocked, the rocker shaft seems to be getting enough slippery stuff so I have decided not to touch it & risk possible HG failure, don't want to push my luck.

Also running it with a thermostat has an added bonus, the heater works brilliantly

Replaced the last gasket that could possibly have been leaking, sump/oil pan & there is still oil coming out.
I now know why the engine had an overdose of oil treatment shoved into it, the rear main seal appears to be leaking:(.

& I parked on top of a wombat last night, think something bent, now it doesn't steer properly :(

Not having much luck with this vehicle :(

bloody oil leaks - left a FWD gearbox sitting level in a wrecks engine bay and it has developed a small drip by drip evacuation up the filler tube. It is more level in the engine bay than it was when fitted under trans tunnel and it chooses now, to leak on the councils access hole lid !!
