MY air filter paint code
MY air filter paint code
I know this is a bit odd but I am interested in finding out the Subaru paint code that suits the Bluey colour that the MY air filter is painted in.
I could repaint it something else I guess or try to match it up with random Blue colours but, hey, if a job is worth doing it is worth doing well.
I have a later model filter unit that has the auto/vacuum hot air intake and a million other emission hose/pipes and I thought I would modify the filter and take out all those late 80's pipework that isn't relevant to my 82 model.
Kind of a cute project I guess and I need to get a life (just getting in there before someone else does):D

Cliff, can't give you the Subaru code, but Pontiac blue is quite close.

The best way to do it would be to have it powder coated - but then you have the trouble of finding the colour which is why I went with the pressure packs. Some people have trouble with the paint cracking but I haven't put the tappet bolts in yet to see what happens.

Cliff, the instructions recommend sp148 a grey primer for better adhesion and colour consistency. I applied it to the rocker covers in the photo. (I paid $15 - $20 a can) It then takes a week between coats. There is also a clear coat but I am happy with them how they are. They still need to go into the oven to be cured so they are chemically resistant, but I doubt this will change the finish.
I was looking too for the Subaru colour code but found Idasho at USMB doing his in this colour and thought it was nice enough.
