all this might depend on how the ecu sees the knock sensor, wonder , well actually not ecu, kcm, wonder if it retards if just disconnected....no, it doesn't, well mine didn't when I forgot to connect it up. Now, wonder if a dud one connected just caused kcm to continually run at about 10 degrees retarded. Disconncting the module near the dizzy would have tried that theory.

Good that a newie has proven worthwhile :)

If you want some entertainment, find the white plastic connector, single, black wire, not connected to anything just below the coil, run a lead from it inside, connector DMM to it and watch it run at 1.7V, when active the read out steps up to as much as 4.5V and pulls timing back, incrementally is my guess.

Yep still surges...

Keen to give the monitoring a go some time. When it was disconnected (and probably before i broke it also) it seemed to retard boost - since I don't have a boost gauge its only an 'in the pants' feeling, maybe its just the cold air... I think it might be time to cut the guard and make a snorkel.
