Adjusting auto choke l series

Post by jims » Fri Aug 09, 2013 4:11 pm

So my choke operates correctly: closed when cold and fully opens when warmed up. My problem is that on cold start up it idles the car too high, around 2500rpm.

Can I adjust the choke so that cold start idles lower?

There should be 2 idle screws, normal idle screw, and fast idle screw,

So adjust down fast idle screw you're saying?

Yes, but check for any vac leaks first, as they will give you high rpm.
The choke has start up stages, depending upon what year it is.
There is also a choke pull off diaphragm, that opens the choke a bit as soon as you start the motor.
If everything is not set correctly, that can give you high rpm as well.
L serious, still.

Thanks Tam.

The pull of diaphram seems to engage on start up and I checked for vac leaks with some carby cleaner around the vac lines.

Will adjust down the fast idle and see how I go.
