Starter Motor compatibility

Post by andy0097 » Mon Aug 26, 2013 12:18 pm

Just a quick one, I have a 90' Brumby with an EA81 fitted had problem with the starter motor recently stripped , cleaned and fixed OK. The question I have is that whilst researching on Fleabay for a possible replacement I noticed that all the site showed the indirect drive starter motor for the EA81 and the direct drive for the EA82. I should back track and say I have a direct drive fitted and it's working fine now, my question is the direct and non direct drive starter motors interchangeable? for both the EA81 and The EA82 motors.

Cheers

I think the autos got the reduction drive type, the manuals the normal old school type. Then, some autos got chunky old style too I think - gave mine away so can't compare.
