trailer light orientation

Post by steptoe » Sat Oct 19, 2013 8:52 am

Looking at a pair of trailer LED lights I got from ebay $21 delivered for a pair - or $74 from a store near you, beginning with r .....

the manufacturer has name in plastic lens at what i gather they assume should be the top. This would put brakes on bottom, blinker on top.

I am gonna fit mine so the brake/tail is at the top - same as traffic lights - red at top. Have seen many trailer lights with brake lights at the bottom. Reckon I am right, others are wrong

As long as the are ADR approved (e4 markings) and there is 2 tail lights, 2 brake lights and L&R indicator lights that are not obstructed on the rear of the trailer, then it passes ADR. There is no mention of where or not the indicator needs to be at the top or bottom. If the trailer is longer than 3.5 metres, then extra indicator lights are required on the sides.
You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.
