Remove MY04 Liberty Headlamp

Post by 555Ron » Mon Nov 25, 2013 4:11 pm

I have recently acquired an MY04 Liberty. Someone has put a headlight protector on the drivers side light and it has melted and fogged the lens. I have a repair kit here I was going to try out and if that fails I was going to find a second hand one to replace it with, let me know if you have one. OK, does anyone know the process to get the whole unit out? I have removed two screws and clip on the top, taken the air box out and found a small self tapping screw into the guard and removed it but I can't get it to come out. Do I have to remove the lower bumper to get it... Or does someone know a link that will show me how it is done...

Quite a good chance that it simply requires a bit of force to 'pop' out.

I think you are right Gannon, there is a clip on the guard side that it is hanging on by that just doesn't want to let go...

Don't force it! If it's at all similar to a 2008 Impreza, it will have two bolts holding it in below the bumper line, which requires the removal of the bumper itself to access.
The bumper is easy, just remove the top (under bonnet), bottom (under car at front) and wheel-well plastic plug clip things, and it pulls off easily enough.

Good luck. Also, try searching for the service manual online, I was able to find/download an Impreza one for free.
