ABS light on, please help!
ABS light on, please help!
My Abs light stays on all the time on my 1999 Legacy outback (import). I have checked the fuse box inside the car, I have cleaned the wheel speed sensors. I have also done the diagnostic with the black connector and the light still stays on permanently. I did read on the web somewhere that some people take the fuse out under the hood to turn off the abs and this makes the light stay on permanently but I can't find the fuse/relay. Has anyone got any ideas?
Please help, I bought the car recently and are trying to get it ready for the RWC and this is holding me up.
Cheers mike

What fault code does the diagnostic scanner show? Make sure that your scanner actually does the ABS as some of the cheaper diagnostic scanners don't.

Hey Mike,
I have a 2000 model H6 Outback that has the ABS light and Check Engine light turn off once you start the engine but as soon as you drive the car 10 metres, they both come on. I've had it on the scanner and all sensors and ABS motors are working fine. I'd like to know if you solve this and like wise, I'll let you know if I find what fixes mine.
Cheers,
Paul

Trailer plug is just a wild guess, i know that led tailights on trailers can bring up this error if you dont have a resistor fitted in the line.sedanmike wrote:Never thought of checking tow bar. It all looks normal. Does anyone know if there is a relay somewhere?
Thanks
Mike
Another idea is that maybe the globes in the tail lights arent bright enough/ providing enough resistance in the line.
