Warning light issues

Post by stur83 » Sat Nov 30, 2013 4:38 pm

Hi all,

Does anyone have any idea why the STOP LAMP, BRAKE FLUID and CHARGE warning lights stay on when engine is running on my 1994 l series 4wd wagon?

I have done the obvious and checked the brake fluid, brake bulbs and that the alternator is charging and all is ok.

Thanks

Stu

see how many Volts the alternator is putting out at the back or at the battery - reckon this happens at about 12V and less....

Theoretically if the charge light is on, it shouldnt be charging. Sounds like a broken wire somewhere.

Jono... what were the early symptoms of dodgy fusible links?

Thank you all for your help, as it turns out the alt was on the way out have replaced it with a near new one from a wrecker here in Ipswich which only cost me $40.00 and now is working fine.

thought so, and when it happens all over again, you might remember what it was that caused it before :)

Good to hear you got it sorted. I'd pull the old alternator apart and have a look at the brushes.. you might find that's all it needs and then you have a spare :)
