Wanted: brumby 3.9 ratio diff

Post by MuZ » Thu Dec 26, 2013 7:36 am

I'm after a r160 rear diff with 3.9 ratio preferable in good condition. Happy to organize freight myself.

the r160 term you use , not so clear about it myself, but , if your Brumby diff is a normal MY Brumby diff you don't need to specify Brumby for the source. I have an L Series diff in my 84 Brumby, swaps straight in and same goes for the bushed mount at the front of the rear diff - wrecker flogged one from an L Series for me to replace same for Brumby.

Does this mean you have a 4 speed DR 4WD box in your Brumby with 3.9:1 diff in the front ? Or is it a 5 speed 4WD DR from an L Series ?

I am hoarding a 3.9:1 L Series diff for my own purposes but you have reminded me of a task at hand - remove somehow the drive shaft securing spring pin punch stuck in there chasing the spring roll pin :(

My brumby has a 4 speed DR 4WD box with 3.9:1 diff in the front. So I'm after a matching diff

The diff it currently has is 3.7:1 so the gearbox starts binding the moment I engauge 4wd.

I also have a spare 3.7:1 rear diff if anyone is intrested to trade

L series or Brumby diff will match, as long as it's 3.9
3.7 are very common, I have about 5 sitting in a pile.
3.9 are less common, as they were only available for a few years.
I think I have one or two, if you cannot get a local one, I may be able to help, as long as I have two.
L serious, still.

Well at least I know it be a challenge to find. I'll keep looking for one in the Illawarra area but if I can't find one soon I'll keep in mind you may have one tam.

And have the output stub on the diff as required - also mentioned this in your gearbox thread (I think that was the one ).
