Water noise

Post by Vortex75 » Mon Mar 31, 2014 11:41 pm

Hey guys, I had a little hose come loose the other day, bit of water leaked out but I'd only just started the car so no damage. Tightened ring clamp and it was fine but now my car makes a strange noise when's it's going, I'm hearing what sounds like water rushing through a pipe. It's not leaking water anywhere and only uses a tiny bit of water when I check it and top it up. I can hear the noise more in the low revs but that's probably just because the engine noise drowns it out as the revs get higher. The engine is running fine, plenty of punch and not getting warm. The engine is a EA82T. Any ideas?

air bubbles in heater core, not sure if a pressure bleed fixes it permanently though. Is it different with heater turned to hot ?

Yes EA82T engines are notorious for that water/bubbling noise. You have to remove all the air in the coolant system to get rid of it (and I am not sure it is that easy to do). I read once (here on Ausubaru?) of 'burping' the radiator by parking the car on a slope/gradient but I cannot remember the specifics.

I am sure others will add their thoughts/ideas.

Thanks guys. Ill have a look in my service manual later. These 5 ring binders of Subaru service manual that came with the car have been a blessing.
