Intermittent Wiper Module

Post by SuBaRiNo » Tue May 13, 2014 9:33 pm

Anyone know the part number of the Intermittent Wiper Module of an MY wagon?

I'm putting intermittent wipers in the brumby and I'm having trouble finding the part number or anyone with one.

You can have the intermittent relay cylinder thing shown above out of my wagon if you like. I plan on making my own that has adjustable duration.

Hella make 'em in a variable intermittent kit, totally not a replacement for original intermittent stuff - editted

Thanks John that is exactly what I'm after. Sorry steptoe I lacked the concentration to find any part numbers in your 4 page post.

That would be awesome Doug. I'm not to interested in having mine adjustable. When are u planing on pulling it out? I can come and collect it from u when your ready.

That hella part number Steptoe is that for the hella equivalent to the stock one or a special adjustable type?

have editted above, is no help to you Dave. Hope the car has the white plug with yellow bridge wire on it. My 84 Brumby doesn't even have that, so not a conversion contender for genuine stuff

I can pull it out anytime as it isn't wired up at all. Il pull it tonight. Just shoot us a PM and il ping you my Mob number.

ktmtragic yeah I could build two but they wont be a plug and play job. I still haven't really sat down and thought about how I'm going to go about it yet. Probably some time in the next few months Il probably look into it as it starts to rain more.

I was thinking of doing the same thing. Was either going to put the whole switch from later model on the steering column or adapting the wiper switch to have a variable knob on the end. Still trying to work out what will be easier.

What was your plan of attack?

This is essentially what I was thinking of doing once I got my hands on an intermittent switch and adding a rotary switch on the end (if possible);

Its a pretty good write up and I am hoping to modify to suit brumby (when I get to it lol)

eg of rotary swithes;

I was probably just going to build up a 555 timer and mount a variable resistor somewhere that looked neat. Yeah, pretty crude description but like I said I haven't really given it a lot of thought. Other simpler option is a micro but it just seems like overkill though If I did mount up a micro I could do other things with it making it more useful....

Subarino, I pulled out the module thisarvo. Im in Rockingham but do work in Bibra lake. Alternatively Im happy to slap it into an overnight bag at work.

Jeez Doug you have a higher understanding of electronics than me lol.
Im trying to think of a neat solution like mounting the rotary switch on the end of the existing switch, but still researching the electronics.

When you do decide to give it more thought could you post in this thread so I can 'borrow' your design :D

zookruzr, "just" find a MY coupe (NOT a wagon, as it will have an additional section for the rear wiper attached) rotary switch and switch out your Brumby one. Takes 5 mins tops. No point re-inventing the wheel when Subaru did the same work 30 years ago :)

If you're lucky with a MY manual (GLF-5) coupe, grab the 5 speed gear knob at the same time for when you fit the L series box.
1989 Brumby - Shiny new red paint, stroked EJ20 phase 2 SOHC with Darton sleeves bored to EJ22, Wiseco high-compression pistons, Delta 2000 grind cams , EJ/XT6 5 stud with WRX 4/2 pots, 5-speed, 86 GTS seats and so much more.
Contact me for reproduction XT6 hubs...and EA82 rear discs.

They had intermittent but not variable, which is what I'm aiming to do
