What Radiator to Get

Post by NachaLuva » Mon Jun 09, 2014 9:49 pm

I've cracked the radiator inlet pipe (plastic), so now I'm looking at getting an all alloy one (no silly plastic end tanks!) I've been told to get an eBay one but was wondering if anyone can recommend a seller. Has anyone bought a radiator from eBay? What was your experience? Would you recommend that seller?

A guy in the club had one he swore by it
Make saw you get Forester not Forester/Impreza you will have to cut your fan mounts if you do
You can get twin core manual ones at a good price
I looked for an auto turbo one but no go only manual

Thanks Jan, I ended up getting this one:
Golpher Full Alloy Radiator | eBay

Golpher is very popular on other forums & its an Aussie seller with 99.5% positive feedback. He was very co-operative answering my questions & its a definite match for my Foz. The same mounting points & fan points plus its 10mm thicker so should fit my cooling requirements nicely :D

UPDATE: This is the wrong radiator for a '97 Forester!

The fan mounting holes/brackets are in the wrong spot. This suits a '98-'02 Foz. After several emails back & forth, we realised this. He is now getting me the right radiator, an all alloy version of this:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/190859030434 ... 26_rdc%3D1

Note the mount is just to the right of the inlet pipe (see 3rd pic for explanation). This is like the one on my '97 model. Later radiators apparently have the mount directly under the pipe.

Be sure to check which yours is before you buy this or any other radiator!

The eBay vendor has been very co-operative & is even arranging return post himself

That's a bloody good effort on the vendors side!

If the rads are that close together in design why not have all mount points rom both models on the one radiator? Just a thought if the dude is making them or having them made to order.

Hope you get it in soon!

Cheers

Yeah, he's been very helpful. Thoroughly recommend him!

Can't have both sets of mounts on the one radiator as one set of the bottom mounts would get in the way of the other being ~15mm higher, Good idea though

With a bit of cutting with a dremel and some zip ties you can fit the fans to the rad
I had to do that with the GT and my old Forester that's why i mentioned it up^there

No need, he's replacing it with the one I need. I wouldnt like using zip ties to put my fans on, esp when there is a radiator with factory mounts. All will be good ;)
