Advice needed

Post by Subaru_Nut » Sat Jul 22, 2006 8:16 pm

As some of you know i own the dl 1600 77. What i ask is how much of a conlectable is it. can i change to a sports steering wheel about 70's style looking. also the stripes along the side of the bottom doors and with the subaru logo through it. a set of wheels maybe superlites or something. Some gauges inside? Pretty much i want to give it a rally/sporty look lol. What do you guys think or just leave it as it is? Any advice would be good.

These cars are really not worth that much in OZ: $50 to $250 depending on condition and body style (utes might be $500).

Stylingwise, I think they would look really good with some 70's wheels (eg kidneys/cragars/rohs), but you might be hard pressed to fit any as the PCD on these babies is non standard.

I really like these BTW, and was looking for a sedan in Melbourne, but could not find one.

I reckon any car will be collectable eventually, especially a straight original one. What ever the mods you do, make sure they are reversable and non permanent.

A bloke a work is getting a E38 RT Charger back to original state, and its worth a packet now. Have look in Unique Cars mag or something to gauge original cars are worth. To a collector, eventually, '70s Japanese vintage cars will be sought after as '60s ones are now.

yeah i was thinking the same thing and modified to be reversable without an issue. But would like to keep it in the 70's look(no bling). Just needed reasurance thats all. thanks. The only problem is getting some wheels to fit and not come out of the gaurds. Would like to have flares but not wreck the body so thats out. Thanks ill think of something

you either modify it, or you don't. simple really. i don't see the need for reassurance from completely strange and random people from the internet you've never met before, in regards to something so trivial and insignificant...

I don't think small mods like the ones you're talking about are going to hurt the car at all or compromise it's day-to-day driveability.

ie don't go putting an EJ20G in it.
Monster Subaru sold to a good home!! Still a Subaru owner. Will try stay in the Ausubaru loop. Sorry

Now that's something I never thought I'd see on the AUSubaru board! :)

I reckon some superlites would look good on it .. are the older cars still the 4x140 pattern? See lots of cars at the classic car events ( Speed on Tweed etc ) with Superlites.

Yeah i did ring for some superlites but only 15/6 would fit and he said they will buldge out of the guards. And they dont make other sizes to fit that stud pattern. I found some steel wheels from a local wrecker for $170 with tyres. I think there roh or speedy( i think 6-8 spokes) and ill paint them silver and just imagine there alloys lol. And there 13/6 or maybe even 13/5 but they look like they wouldnt be a drama to fit.
