Hey Gannon, i thought that part of the compression drop was done by the heads as well as the piston tops? This is usually achieved by a larger compression chamber in the head. I'd have a look at the two different heads, and compare the N/A chamber to the Turbo head's chamber to see if the turbo head has a deeper chamber...Suparoo wrote: There is no difference between turbo and NA heads as far as compression goes. Just the cams and the oil/water ports.
If you take a NA block with 9.5:1 comp, and add turbo heads and a turbo, it gives an engine with much better off boost grunt.
I also think the cams would have an effect on the compression a little bit. I'm only speculating on this, as i have not had the chance to compare the two heads myself so check it out... i'd be interested to hear if there is a difference.
Would it be worth modding an N/A head to take the turbo if there is a difference?
Also i believe the turbo blocks (EA82) had a knock sensor... I presume we are talking about an EA82, if so, are you going to fit one of these knock sensors and change the wiring to fit this?
Cheers
