I had so much fun getting to this one. It lives in front of the gear shift under the centre console.
this picture was taken through the hole for the ashtray.

the 1985 module is unusable I got this picture from nncoolg

I was told the 1986 onward module is the same as mine, but mine is the 1987-88 model which was the second model change from what I've read and been told.
If you can find one I'm willing to buy it from you.

Equivelents :
Ok - I did a bit of digging & found this as an equivalent to the NEC MR301:

Data sheet from here : http://www.digchip.com/datasheets/parts ... 1S-pdf.php
They can be found here also :
https://wellgainelectronics.com/module/ ... QueryTyped
This one they do have : NEC MR301-12HSL U
,
That looks just about right - So you can still get them ...
Cheers, Bantum ...

Yep the 87 build with the 88 compliance plate, the on the US guys call the 87.5 is that correct ? that's what mine issteptoe wrote:TOONGA, yours is not the second model, OK, it may be the second time the Vort got changed, makes it the third model. The second model is the 87.5 as the US guys like to call it- made over just six month period before your version kept getting made for a few years....

so is that the 2nd or 3rd version

Ive bought these as 10 were cheaper than 1

I believe it will be easier (?) to replace all 3 relays and be done with it. If that doesn't work then Doug is going to help me make a new one (he doesn't know that yet)

The US guys usually talk in 'compliance date' not 'build date' Steptoe, to my knowledge the 'six month period' thing refers to the XT series 2 turbo, which was only sold there until mid 1987, until the XT6 was sold along side the NA XT4
I have attached the Control Equipment page from the AUS. parts catalog.
It appears that the side the wiper parks on is irrelevant due to the fact that 86571GA100 suits models up until Dec. 1986, but RH parking wipers were fitted to models built from Jan. 1986
So It may be a case of 'if it plugs in it will work' and the part number just being a board revision or you may need to get the matching controller to replace yours for an additional reason.
Whats the build date of your car Toonga?
Does your car still have the variable Int. slider under the LH control wing?
I know Int. operation also depends on vehicle speed, is the speed sensor still connected after your EJ engine fitment?

the built date is October 1987 the compliance plate has an 88 stamped on it.
Yes I have the variable slider it even has the knob still. sadly the dimmer for the dash lights had no knob when I bought the car.
The speed sensor is in the speedo and it is connected to the EJ ECU so that the IACV doesn't throw a code.

A big thanks for your effort today Matt, it is a pity it was the earlier model with the brown module.mattw wrote:I will be looking at a Vortex wreck today. Unsure of its build date, will let you know what I find. PM me your phone number and I'll send you pic of the unit. If it checks out I'll buy it for you.

Still looking.

Not a problem Matt I do appreciate the effortmattw wrote:Yeah, sorry it didn't work out. They listed it as an 88 or 89. Turns out its an 86 (turbo 2wd)

I may have a lead on one of these In the USA it will probably cost around 90 dollars including shipping. I'm not putting up a link, as when I did that on USMB someone promptly bought the part.

At this point it seems to be my only viable way to get a complete module in case I cook the one I have soldering new components on.
