Hi peoples.
Me again.
I am just wondering, is it possible to put solid axles on a MY wagon?
Would I be able to just make the mounts on the body (with a LOT of bracing)?
Or would I have to have something along the lines of a chassis?
TIA
Chris

I've heard of it being done in the US, seem some photos too. Good luck registering it though.
Altho I think someone in the Qld 4x4club put an L series body onto the chassis of a real 4x4, but they kept engine etc from the real 4by so the only subaru bit was the body I believe.

'91 brumby, EJ-Turbo with VOSChip, 2" lift, 15" superlites, Dual Range AWD.
'93 Subaru Legacy, 2.2 auto, automatic seatbelts, LHD.

Live rear end is getting to be fairly common over in the US ( still rare, but more are doing it ) as it's not *that* hard and it allows for an airlocker to be put in place.

That might prove difficult due to the fairly shallow floorpan on a Subaru, but i think if you built a chassis to fit up to the original mounting points for the Suabru suspension and crossmembers you'd have more success.
Certainly a live rear end that could attach to the OE suspension mountings would be possible - think of all the unibody live rear end cars around like Mazda RX2s and 3s - if they can handle a 300hp rotary to a live rear end I reckon a 50hp Subaru should be ok.

Monster Subaru sold to a good home!! Still a Subaru owner. Will try stay in the Ausubaru loop. Sorry

I dont really want to build any more then what I have to.
Ok, what is the closest structual point to the back of the front doors.
Is there a Xmember near there?
Actually, about a ' behind it would be good.
And how much would one pay for a bare body?
Going by those plans...I dont need the back half from behind the front doors.
Sedan or wagon.....But MY though will be better.
And in SEQld. Im not buying yet, just looking for prices.
