90subiewgn, go the 3" lift, I am too!:D
I have made on set and fitted to the MY, and as Subarino says, better for bigger tyres, and a heap more clearance. I worked this weekend :(, but got some time today to do a bit on my next 3" kit for the L :D. Hopefully it will be done in the coming weeks to fit.

Fang, I think I have the Monroe's in the rear of mine too, they jack the back up way too high, having second thoughts in regards to fitting them with the lift. I may just mount them higher on the shock extension to get the correction. Any thoughts?

Today i compared the new struts to my old bend strut...it seems the new struts are about 3cm SHORTER!..the shocks in the rear where about 3cm LONGER than the originals!

is this normal? not sure that the new springs will compensate for the height loss! i may be lowering instead of lifting!...not too sure though!

I have found there is a few dfferent height front struts that you can get for the L series.... You should find with the lift kit the actual smaller struts will make your CV's last a little longer.

I wouldn't be too worried about it just yet.

Hey can we post a few measurements up to compare
Measure from the bottom of the strut to the base of the spring seat.
Do it for both front and rear, as there seems to be a few variances.

I am interested to know now, as my front sat low with new springs, that photo says it all, maybe mine are lower too?

I am not sure but the earlier L's ('85-86) had different shocks?

old strut is 235mm
new strut is 205mm

from the bottom of the strut to the start of the weld which holds the springs seat...

my old strut was bent to the sh*t, but its pretty accurate

Hmmm,
I have found a lot of differance. My old passenger side front strut had been replaced was near 25mm lower. Rode like a rocking horse. I scored some 2nd hand adjustable ones and they to are different lenghts once again by 25mm, this time Ive used the adjusters to get it to sit flat. Not sure what goin on ... there is certainly alot of differance.
Have you got the part numbers... lets compare?

just put the LH front strut and king spring in...the new spring was actually shorter than the original, and the car is probably about 20mm lower!

I think the king springs have a higher spring rate, but are smaller uncompressed.

I am confused as hell now after measuring mine. I have the measured 235mm in mine, but even with new King springs the front sits low.

The rear maybe is the problem, jacked up too high. It has the Subaru gas filled SJ20 shocks with some orange painted springs?? Not sure if the rear springs are the root of this problem?? Measures in vehicle top-bottom bolts 450mm.

333232 DF09

the guy checked in the book, and came up with those numbers too - L series wagon.

theres another set of part nos for L series sedan with height control.
hope you didn't get those??
