here's an idea

Post by Subafury » Sat Aug 26, 2006 1:03 am

i was just checkin out perth4x4.net and thinking if we could get some people together we could join up on one of their outings to show em what a subaru can do. i reckon we sure would surprise some patrol and cruiser owners at how well our pocket rockets go off road.
just an idea for somethin else to read, what do ya reckon?

Yup I've had that idea before, we've never really got round to it somehow but I'm still up for it!!

I actually joined their forum a long time ago when it first started but havn't logged in since. Some of those guys frequent the Pipiddini dunes (my favourite playground).

Who else is game!?

We could just as easily get out there and embarrass ourselves, I say this not to discourage doing it, but just as a caution. I do have faith in the Subaru's ability offroad, however to assume we're going to rock up to a 4WD meet and 'show up' better equipped vehicles with our cars is plain silly.

I'm all for it - but when a strut top / radius rod / axle / balljoint / steering knuckle fails we'd better be prepared. I doubt the Perth4x4.net crew would hang around and offer assistance to a downed vehicle if the driver rocked up attempting to take them all to 4X4 school.

Just a thought.

i logged in the other day for the first time in a year too since i joined thats how i got the idea.

we wouldnt attempt to show off, we could ask them all nicely :p if we could combine groups for an outing, then if all goes as planned (ie not too many breaks, bogs) we'd surprise em. and if it doesnt go as planned they'll just think the same of us in our "fake 4wd"'s.
best of both worlds

From what i have learnt and seen from them they don;t seam to be the nicest of people. Like Tim said... i really doubt they would hold up a trip to help one of us out.

We have a good group in that if somehting bad goes wrong we all still seam to have as much fun helping out the unlucky sod who has had damage or got stuck than if the trip had of continued.

Yeah but if we went as a group then it doesn't matter if they don't wait for us. We could just tag along and if we happen do impress them all the better! If we don't impress them that's okay.....we only have Subi's :p
