Cyclone Alfred 2025

Post by Bantum » Mon Mar 10, 2025 1:18 pm

Well its been a bit windy & lots of rain, where I am - most of the Gold coast has copped it with heaps of beach front washed out, trees down & power outages. There's still the after effects of flooding to come - Keep safe out there & wait till its all clear to venture out again ...

Cheers, Bantum ....

Good to hear that you are Ok Bantum, I am in between Brissy and the Sunshine Coast. We had a bit of wind, nothing like Gold Coast & Redcliffe, Sun night was the windiest for us. I think SE QLD should consider itself lucky that Alfred was not a stronger cyclone, it caused enough issues as it was.

As far rainfall goes, we had 22mm Sat - 45mm Sun & 125mm yesterday. Today has been drizzly rain, around midday it looked like about 12mm in the gauge.

I have a Dr's appointment in Caloundra tomorrow morning, fingers crossed.

Can you send some of (not all!) that rain down here? We had our first rain yesterday since well before Christmas - and it had nothing to do with cyclone Alfred from what I can tell.

Today was hot again but humid as eff outside!!

Some of the memes getting around about Cyclone Alfred are classic. I like the one where the dude is poking it with a stick saying “come on, do something”

Hope everyone is safe!

Cheers

Bennie

Did you see the picture on FB, of the guy with the timber and sandbags on his tiled roof?

Sandbags on roof.
I don't think the guy had calculated on the extra weight once the sandbags became soaked. :o :o
