Centre diff lock

Post by AndrewT » Mon Sep 11, 2006 3:06 pm

I know some of the import AWD EA82 gearboxes have the Vacuum operated centre diff lock...

Is it possible to rig something similar up to a later model EJ dual range box? IE my 1999 Outback gearbox. I just need some way of locking and unlocking the centre diff. Anyone got any ideas?

Due to the lack of dual range EJ boxes in the US, some guys have resorted to putting L Series boxes in their Outbacks/Foresters. Would have to change to a 3.7 or 3.9 rear diff (if not already installed). Dual range Full Time would still have a poor low.

The EJ boxes run a viscous centre diff wihich normally can't be locked.

Not unless you want to put a DCCD centre from an STi into it:twisted:
