1.8 turbo? is it legal in Nsw? 2" lifts are they legal?

I have just bought a L series with 1.8 Turbo and 2" lift and want to know if they are legal in NSW? I know I need some flares for the tyres I have, 14" 195R.

If it's a factory turbo it's ok.

Legal and legal.

However, if your tyres stick out past the guards, at least in Victoria, they're illegal.

If the body you put the engine into didn't have a turbo from the factory you will need a certificate.

ARE THEY EXSPENSIVE? DOES THE LIFT NEED A CERTIFICATE TO?

Engine is Legal - so long as your insurance company knows about it. It must be complied.

Lift kit is also legal - so long as your insurance company knows about it. 50mm lifts are an Owner-Certified modification in NSW.

I think they are more after the street racer kids.

Didn't want to get pulled up and have to spent 1000's on certificates

It still must be complied (the engine that is), ie you'll need a blue-slip. To check if it's complied, verify the engine number against the rego papers.

Have you got rear discs?

An Engineer's Report, for less than $500, is the best insurance against defect notices you can buy.

195R14s should still be just inside the guards on and L-series with Sunrasia wheels. Maybe you could get the guards flared instead.

Do you know where the engine number is on that motor?
The engineers certificate is the only sure way to not get defected.
Have you heard of many raised subi's being checked over by the law?

Blue slip, and make sure your insurance company knows about it. In NSW Third Party Liability Insurance (Green Slip) is the law. If your vehicle does not comply with the Statement of Insurance then you are a criminal.

But we're all criminals from time to time . . . :P

From memory, the engine number is on a sticker on the bellhousing, on the starter-motor side of the timing-mark access port.

As I have freely given away all of my worthless EA82s, I cannot reference this at all so I'm probably wrong.

If the law aren't thinking lift kits are illegal, they have no reason to be checkin beneath the hood, not like it sounds much different either..very mild turbo

If you don't draw attention to yourself, or don't hang out with street hoons etc, or drive like a hoon, you have little to worry about. As said before make sure your car with correct engine No is registered. ie blue-slip.
not all rego check places do the blue-slip, and maybe they may want an
engineers report these days, (or maybe not, depends on where you go)
