Liberty gearbox, what diff ratios fit? LSD?

Post by Phizinza » Sat Sep 30, 2006 12:34 pm

I am interested to know what diff ratios I can put in a D/R 89 Liberty box? 4.44? I know the 4.11 fits, and the box I have is a 3.9.

Also, not so important, but I was just wondering how much a front LSD in 4.11 or 4.44 would cost secondhand? And what would be best for offroading helical or viscous? I know the clutchpack type is what is mostly used, but is this available in the front?

EDIT: That brings me to anothe question... Is the front diff in a Liberty box any different to the rear diff?

Other ratios will fit in the front but you have to modify the crown wheel

But theres enough room for a 4.44 right?
I know the 4.11's fit in L-series boxes, but because of lack of room the 4.44's don't (I think thats how it is, can't quite remember now.)

the 4.44s have a thicker crown setup due to the amount of teeth
