Car Wash Rules?

Post by SUBYDAZZ » Mon Oct 23, 2006 7:59 pm

Back in NSW we think it's quite obvious that you go to a carwash and leave with a clean vehicle, but we don't make it a condition of use!

WTF?

The guy at my local carwash spits it if you drive in in a muddy car. Last time I took my wagon in there (aaaages ago!!) covered in mud, he came running out and yelled at me, telling me off for leaving mud in his wash bay. He wanted me to pay to blast the mud down the drain!

Didn't do it. He's not going out of business anytime soon.

Yes they have a sign there at the Caboolture car wash that if you leave the area dirty you will have to pay extra, as if it isnt costing you enough to get your car clean

After the last trip to the car wash and getting the filthy looks from the guy who had just finished cleaning the bays i think it would be cheaper and easier in the long run to buy a cheapish pressure washer and use the car ramps I got in the shed.

At least that way I will be able to get under the car done properly.

LOL - i appreciate the joke - but to join others in going a tad off topic-:

With most of SE QLD under level 3 (level 4 imminent) water restrictions, got no alternative but to go to a Car Lovers or whatever. Anyone tried to clean the muddy underneath of their car with only a bucket?

I agree - for the extra dollar or so to wash the mud down the drain I am more than happy to do it. Some clowns at these places just jump to conclusions and flat out refuse any muddy vehicles whatsoever.

LOL, Yeah I at least wash the mud from the path where my wheels will travel when I leave :)

Actually on the Friday night when I went to powder my car's nose, some nice person had left a good sponge, a spray bottle of mag wheel cleaner and a wheel / tyre brush for me to use!

Back at home it often costs me about $30 to do a good job of my car and get most of the mud off and then clean the bay, I try to use them as little as possible.

Glad they never had that sign at the Carl Overs joint I used to go to. It would have made one Porsche owner spit. Here I am degreasing the engine bay in an old Mazda before replacing a head gasket. Car no go coz pressure built up inside leaking green coolant into cylinders. I pull out spark plugs and crank it over to pump the coolant out. As I am whacking plugs back in and about to start it, I here a guy saying " Hey , mate. Hey , mate" Didn't know he was talking to me until he comes right up to ask what was in my car. What ?? Then he shows me his beautiful Porsche three bays away, covered in a mix of carbon (from the internal steam clean) and coolant. Oh OH !

I offered Mario to wash it all over again, but he just kept chamoising the shit off his new paintwork ( me shuddering). He just wanted to be heard I suppose.

The next week I am back and Carl tells me that Porsche owner... he got in to leave and found the shit sprayed through his open window all over his interior... oops !
