F*#ked steering

Post by Lapsed » Wed Oct 25, 2006 9:46 pm

My steering has crapped itself! The right hand side bush has been leaking fluid for a while now and it had finally ran out of fluid. What is easier to do replace the whole rack or just the bushes?

cheers chris

The bush shouldn't leak fluid, it'd be the rack leaking. If the bushes are flogged hit up BlackBox for some Nolathane replacements.

If the fluid is leaking there is an addative that is pretty damn good that Super Cheap sell (not super cheap brand) thickens the PS fluid making it less likely to leak. As Tim says... bushes are greased if anything... no fluid... would have to to be the PS fluid leaking and not related to the bush wearing out.

Yeah, I think the bushes he's referring to are the ones that mount the rack to the crossmember.

Any pics of the leaking bushes?

How does the car feel to drive?

Have you noticed a change in your power steering fluid level? As Subarino stated, there is some very good gear on the market to stop these leaks.
Monster Subaru sold to a good home!! Still a Subaru owner. Will try stay in the Ausubaru loop. Sorry

The leak stuff i thought was a pretty standard thing u would need to add to any rack over 10 years old. You can simply use it as a top up or use it as an entire fluide replacement if the leak is hardcore.
