Any cheap subi's around?

Post by TW83 » Tue Oct 31, 2006 11:20 am

Just wondering if anyone knows of any cheap subi's for sale around perth at the moment. Just fried the wiring loom in my sisters escort that has been getting me from a to b during the conversion. Looking to spend about a grand or less, just need it to get me around during christmas.

Got a mate with a red 84 model wagon for $400, dual range 4spd, if you give him another $200 or so he'll chuck in a spare running motor (good comp too!) and a low km's jap gearbox, 4spd D/R as well.

I can let him know if you're interested.

Does the engine in it run ok or does it need the spare put in it?

Havnt come across many 400 dollar cars that will last more than a week, but then there not subys.

Dont want to have to do much work on it as we already have to many spare engines, gearboxes and cars lying around.

The engine in it is running, but it's chemiwelded. Something blew (head gasket I think) and the oil & coolant mixed. They're not mixing now, the engine was chemiwelded about 5 weeks ago and since then its done about 300k.

I say yes but dad say no, its my money but he has the final say. "no more shithouse subarus in my carport" was along the lines of his response. Guess i'll have more incentive to get mine running, ill be saving the money for the exhaust. etc.

Thanks for the info.

Thats what I reckon but you might be seeing things his way if you had to take the same gearbox apart and put it back together 4 times in 3 days.
Come to think of it it is probably just the shithouse backyard mechanics and not the subaru.
